The radio only got one station and lucky for us, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody came on and the three of us sang at the top of our lungs! We had such a good time. From then on, we called my brother's car Freddie Mercury. I will always have fond memories of that summer, riding around in Freddie, feeling the freedom from parents with that operatic tune resonating in my head! Quite a coming of age memory for me! I was one of those kids who was shy and didn't like to try new things, so I was a little scared to learn how to ride a bike. Dad was always playing really terrific music in the house and Queen was one band that was often on the turntable. He played "Bicycle Race" for me to try to get me amped up to learn how to ride a bike. It worked! Flash forward 30 years later. I played "I'm in love with my car" for my husband and told him it was his new theme. :) Even after 30 years, Queen is still relevant, in my life anyway. I can't wait to introduce my 10 month old to them. “Bicycle Race” came out shortly before I learned how to ride a bike. My brother and I would jam to it in the backseat of mom's 68 camero and rock back and forth (like we were in a rocking chair) because that's what we thought they meant by they would rock us! LOL What can I say? We were kids but at least we got to ride around in a cool car :). I’m not sure the absolute first time I heard Queen but I do remember listening to We Will Rock You as a kid.
