My favorite memory of Queen comes from when I played soccer in high school. We would enter the field at each of our home games to “We Will Rock You.” One year, after we won a major tournament, someone turned on “We are the Champions” on repeat on their car stereo really loud. Our entire team was dancing in the parking lot while the losing team had to walk by us. I have been a huge Queen fan since then. Who knew, 10 years later, my two year old would be rocking out to Queen every day. He sings all the words to “We will Rock You”, “Somebody to Love”, and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.

As a child of the early 90’s my first CD was Vanilla Ice. And while I hate to admit this on the Internet, it eventually lead me to Queen. My parents introduced me to Under Pressure and it was on from there. To this day Under Pressure is one of my favorite Queen songs. I also loved Bohemian Rhapsody because of Wayne’s World and Another One Bites the Dust because of Weird Al. My tastes have varied throughout the years, but it always came back to Queen.

My favorite song as a kid was “Another One Bites the Dust.” I can remember car trips, and it’d come on the radio, and we’d all just sing our hearts out. Fond memories of family in the car. :)

I grew up listening to queen. They were one of the first bands I ever listened to. i actually have 2 stories lol. 1) My father owns a ‘67 Shelby GT 350. When I was 6 or 7 I used to sit and listen to I’m min love with my car over and over and pretend to drive it. 2) When my daughter was born I tried singing all different songs to get her to sleep (she was VERY fussy at bedtime) The first sing that she fell asleep to was a softened version of Bohemia Rhapsody.

I have been a Queen fan for a long time- I have a lot of their albums and I have to say if I’m feeling down- I play " Don’t stop me now" as loud as I can and boogie round the house. There is a song for every moment- " The show must go on" if I am having a hard time dealing with something, " Lazing on a Sunday afternoon" if I feel like being goofy, " The Miracle" for a great air guitar solo mood, " Who wants to live forever" if I need to have a cry, and " One Vision" when I just wanna belt it out. I have the Metallica lullabye CD and give all my friends an appropriate CD to them, but when we have our next child, which may be IVF again, this would be the CD for me!

My favorite memory of queen would be August 18 2007, my wedding day. Bohemian Rhapsody was the last song played and I had the most fun dancing with my new Husband, friends, and family. My little man was 3 months along in my belly so he danced with me too. Axel our son who is now 15 months listens to Rockabye baby lullabys every night to go to sleep and has been doing so almost from the time he was born. He is a little rock star playing his drums and banging his head!!

Before They Were Rock Stars: Queen Quiz | Rockabye Baby!

Hmmm, must have been around ‘92. Was shooting pool in a dive bar in Anaheim, Ca. A guy challenged me to 9 ball(and $100). Being drunk, I said “Sure”. He racked, and as I broke, ’Bicycle’ came on and I ran the table. Song finished just before I dropped the last ball and walked with this guy’s cash. Yeah, I bought him a couple drinks, too.

A bunch of my friends and I were on a scuba diving trip in the Red Sea. We had just finished a night dive and we were on a bus on the way back to our hotel, rolling over sand dunes in the middle of nowhere. All of a sudden, one of my friends started singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the rest of us joined in. Every single person contributed in singing the song even though it was after midnight and we were all exhausted and it was awesome. Every time I hear that song, I think back to that night.

I am a music fanatic, period. I have always loved Queen and have at least 20 of their songs on my ipod. One day I had left my purse in the house and run in to get it, when I cam out I found my kids, including my 3 year old, re-enacting the video for Bohemian Rhapsody. It was without a doubt the funniest thing I had ever seen and heard in my life

I grew up listening to what my in-laws would consider “devil’s music”, The Eagles, Metallica, Queen, Led Zepplin, all the classics. Thankfully my parents instilled a wide variety of music in my upbringing and I’ve fully appreciated all of those bands. It helped me break the ice with the 3 boys I eventually nannied in an upscale family in Northern California. They were wild and hyper and I had no clue how to control them. After a couple of days of being walked on, I popped in my Queen Greatest Hits Volume 1 CD and started singing “Fat Bottomed Girls” to block out their screams. There was instant silence and then questions about what I was playing, what the words were and if they could sing with me. Eventually we ended up dancing idiotically to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. That CD kept me from quitting that day and kept me there for 2 years. I even remember a day where I swapped cars with the mom and accidently left the cd in the other car and had to sing “Somebody to Love” in rush hour traffic for 45 minutes!

The Best Sesame Street Musical Guests — Part 1 | Rockabye Baby!

I teach high school art. I let the kids select music to play in class. Usually it’s background music or there’s arguing about what’s being played. It was a pretty mixed class, upper classmen and freshman, different races and ecomic situations. But one day, one of my students who was a huge Queen fan brought in a CD. Everybody was singing along…“He’s just a poor boy from a poor family, Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?”

We listened to that CD twice a day for a couple of weeks. It was really cool.

When I was a kid, my dad video-taped my step-bro and sis and me singing Bohemian Rhapsody… We were upside down on the couch with our heads hanging over the edge and he covered our noses and mouths with (who knows…I don’t remember) and put sunglasses on our necks and baseball caps over the glasses. So we had these funny little faces. We had no idea what it would look like, and finally when we watched it… oh, it was great! I will never forget it The camera zoomed in on my bro at the end when the music slows, and he looked all somber. It was perfect. I wish I could find that video.

Loop Gurus: Fun with Tape Decks | Rockabye Baby!

I have been a huge Queen fan for a long time now, and regularly play the original CD’s for my baby! I bet she would love the Rockabye versions.

My mom and I were on a bike team together for a couple years and we played non-stop Queen. How could we not with Bicycle Race and Fat Bottomed Girls at our disposal? You’re My Best Friend was my mom’s ring tone for a while, and we danced to it together at my wedding – and then at hers! Queen has been a bonding experience for us and I’d love it to be for me and my daughter.

I didn’t grow up listening to Queen. In fact, my only real experience with Queen as teenager was through the movies. Watching Revenge of the Nerds and hearing ‘We Are The Champion’ I was blown away, only I had no clue who sang the song and that it went on to get even better.
And I can’t forget watching Wayne’s World and all the Queen songs that were sung or profiled. After that I had to find out more and have been listening ever since.
Queen is full of passion, creativity and heart and their music is timeless.
This Rockabye CD is by far one of the best!

I have loved Queen for a long time. My husband introduced me to them and the first song i heard of thiers was “we will rock you” it was played at our wedding:) we were married in ’92
boy has our life been that song..lol
everytime i hear that song i think if my husband:)

Stacy

I have loved Queen since I was a little girl—my mom listened to them all the time. However, my favorite Queen moment is when my husband performed “Don’t Stop Me Now” at a local American Idol-esque competition. He won first place and my heart after that performance. Now every time I hear that song, it reminds me of him.

Jenn

Till this day anytime I hear We Are the Champions or We Will Rock You I am drawn back to my high school days of playing sports. We ALWAYS warmed up to these songs! It reminds me of a wonderful time in my life and how much I enjoyed playing sports. I hope to share that passion with my child one day.
I also enjoy Under Pressure. How can you not listen to that song and want to sing along! Thanks for adding this one!

In Tents: Sleeping in Teepees | Rockabye Baby!

My kids are the main reason I love Queen more now than ever before. I have always enjoyed listening to the greatest hits CD and put it on often in my room. My 2 young children (2 and 4) now come running in every time it’s on. It is a surefire way to get their attention. They love to jump and dance to it and sing along. I love that they don’t always get the words right and that they add in Dun, dun, dun, duns in between words for the music. My 4 year old has already decided that We Are the Champions will be her wedding song. I even caught her humming Another One Bites the Dust in the car the other day. My kids and Queen are a winning combination that never fails to put an enormous smile on my face.

Shannon

“Bicycle Race” came out shortly before I learned how to ride a bike. I was one of those kids who was shy and didn’t like to try new things, so I was a little scared to learn how to ride a bike. Dad was always playing really terrific music in the house and Queen was one band that was often on the turntable. He played “Bicycle Race” for me to try to get me amped up to learn how to ride a bike. It worked!
Flash forward 30 years later. I played “I’m in love with my car” for my husband and told him it was his new theme. :) Even after 30 years, Queen is still relevant, in my life anyway. I can’t wait to introduce my 10 month old to them.

Debra R

I’m not sure the absolute first time I heard Queen but I do remember listening to We Will Rock You as a kid. My brother and I would jam to it in the backseat of mom’s 68 camero and rock back and forth (like we were in a rocking chair) because that’s what we thought they meant by they would rock us! LOL What can I say? We were kids but at least we got to ride around in a cool car :).

Another One Bites the Dust, and We are the Champions were my adolescent anthems. Nothing was more liberating for me, than running around the backyard, in my homemade Wonder Woman foil wristlets; pretend invisible plane (easy to recreate) and singing along with Freddie Mercury at the top of my lungs. I only hope my four year old will someday grow up to have such an interest in the genius of Queen.

Top 5 African Albums For Kids | Rockabye Baby!

When I was 13 and my big brother had just gotten his license, we took his ‘84 camero out for a cruise with our cousin. The radio only got one station and lucky for us, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody came on and the three of us sang at the top of our lungs! We had such a good time. From then on, we called my brother’s car Freddie Mercury. I will always have fond memories of that summer, riding around in Freddie, feeling the freedom from parents with that operatic tune resonating in my head! Quite a coming of age memory for me!
