Rockabye Baby's Movie Night: The Wedding Singer
Happy Friday, everyone! At long last the weekend has arrived and, boy, are we ready to relax. How about another cozy movie night with Rockabye Baby? Again, you choose the treats and we'll choose the movie.
There's a little part in all of us that has wanted to be a rock star (I know I wasn't the only one singing into my hairbrush as a kid). The Billboard hits, your name in lights, crooning fans by the thousands every night at sold-out shows. The same could be said for Adam Sandler's character in 1998's romantic comedy The Wedding Singer.
Taking us back to the mid-eighties, wedding singer Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) is letting go of his dream of becoming a rock star and replacing it with finding the right girl to settle down with. As luck would have it, his fiancée leaves him standing at the altar, souring his attitude towards matrimony. Robbie takes his bitterness with him on stage (not really ideal entertainment for a newly married couple) until he catches sight of Julia (Drew Barrymore), a waitress who works at the weddings, and sways his outlook on love after all. Did we mention she's engaged? Plot twist!
So sit back, relax and dive into the '80s. While you watch, the littlest movie critic in your home can enjoy the movie, too, by listening to Rockabye Baby's lullaby renditions of these '80s hits featured in the film:
Lullaby Renditions of The Police - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"
Lullaby Renditions of Depeche Mode - "Just Can't Get Enough"
Lullaby Renditions of Madonna - "Holiday"
Lullaby Renditions of The Cure - "Boys Don't Cry"
Lullaby Renditions of The Smiths - "How Soon Is Now?"
