Giveaway: The Best Breakup Songs

Posted by 33 on

BreakUpValentine's Day is coming soon. Can you think of a holiday more loved or hated in this world? But how can you not love love? Easy...you've been though a breakup. And, man, they suck. I remember well what it felt like; like the world was going to end again and again and again. Not being able to eat, crying myself to sleep, etc. (Oh, yeah, I just reveled in my sadness.) Thinking what went wrong, will I ever love again? As a teenager and even as an adult, it didn't matter, I was crushed. We all go through it, and I'm going to have to help my daughter (hopefully not for at least 16 years) through all the tears and tissue boxes and ice cream and the necessary sad-love-song period. Which brings us to today's giveaway. You know why you just have to love love? It inspires some of the greatest music, whether your heart's a flutter or in pieces. But, yeah, you all know that. So we're asking you today:

What's your favorite breakup song?

Post it in the comments below to be entered into our random drawing for one (1) a Rockababye CD of your choice. Three (3) winners will be selected. Post your song selections below by February 18 at 12 pm PT. Enter as many songs as you wish by the deadline. For extra entries, tweet this post and like us on Facebook.

I'll start! Pretty much any slow song Tom Waits sings feels like a breakup song doesn't it? But some big ones I probably know by heart are John Waite's "Missing You," and "Don't Speak" by No Doubt is definitely a good one, about Gwen Stefani and bassist Tony Kanal's relationship ending. Check out our soothing rendition in our Lullaby Renditions of No Doubt!

Now, it's your turn. Bring on the sad tunes to recall what's beautiful about heartbreak.
