  • My mom rocks because she is always there for me. Even though we live 3,000 miles away I know I can give her a call any time and she will tell me whatever I need to hear. Whether that be a biased compliment that only your mother would tell you, or a bit of bitter truth.

  • I remember the summertime mostly. Ma would be on the washboard scrubbing away the weeks work from my fathers clothes. I’d be playing in the dirt, pretending to be a soldier like I heard on the radio stories I loved. Whenever we had no food to eat, she’d sing us songs about Noah and the flood. We didn’t have a lot of money, but were rich in love.

  • she always sent a care package every time I was feeling farthest from home, and she always signs every note or card with a smiley face in the “o” of “Mom”.

  • Whenever I plan a trip home, she bakes up my favorite dessert – Chocolate Zucchini Cake with a caramel sauce and cool whip topping (so good!!) We sit out on the porch sampling the entire evening. It’s the best!
